AUSTRALIAN MUSLIM

who's Allah ?
are you Muslim or Islam?
how can u be Australian and Muslim at the same time?

These are the questions i have been asked as a Muslim Australian through out my childhood. Living in small suburb in a small town called Wollongong i grew up between Christians , Jews and Buddhists.

As an Australian Lebanese Muslim , i would wonder and ask my self how come people could judge me so quickly, but after maturing and learning about society i came to understand that the majority of the world heard, seen and just believed what the media feed society ,the minority made the effort to look into Islam and actually understood us.

As a Muslim we read and abide by the Koran, follow and practise the 5 pillars of Islam which are, believing in one god and one god only and Muhammad is his final messenger , praying 5times a day , giving charity (if one is able to) , preforming Haj ( pilgrimage to mecca ( Saudi Arabia) )and fasting the month of Ramadan ( if one is in suitable health or not traveling).

When one turns on the televising and See's 5 Israeli soldiers shooting at a civilian with nothing but a rock to defend him self , the first thing that comes to mind is that this civilian is a " suspected -terrorist,and when he fends for him self with a stone he becomes a terrorist.

The media has done such a great job in connecting the word Muslim and Terrorist together quiet well. What do you call a American shooting at a father and his children defenceless? a hero?


Islam means Peace, the Koran teaches peace and respect.There is a story from Koran it goes like this ,

A Jewish lady was the neighbour of prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him),everyday she threw rubbish on him and into his yard.One day she did not come out to throw the rubbish,the kind prophet knocked on the door and ask about her,her family member told him that she became very sick,prophet Muhammed pbuh went inside to see her and when she saw the enemy besides her bed and asking about her health,she felt sorry for what she did to him and she said the''shahda''witness'' la ilaha il llAllah,Muhammed rasool Allah'' there is no false gods except Allah,Muhammed is the messenger of Allah.

This story shows the foundation of Islam , to be peace full to all of gods creation wither it be , Jewish , Christian or Buddhists god taught us to peaceful and respect all.

One should not judge a race so rapidly with out seeking a second source of knowledge.
