I am not a generation y or x. I was born in the early 1970's and my parents worked their arses off to put me through school. They brought me up with a strong work ethic where I started work as a part time shop assistant at the age of 15. I have worked on and off since then, depending on the job situation. The only problem I have is that the longest job I have had has been 5 years. I would still be in that job if it wasn't for having a stroke in 2006. I then decided to go and study.I plan to go back to work when I am finished studying.

I am a person from generation y and i held a job for 3 and a half years. I started work aged 14 and a half and finished the same job aged 18.My reason for stoping work was to further enhance my education so i could find a job that would pay better than $12 an hour.So is it any wonder that people from my generation do not want jobs whern they work their arses off and get paid next to nothing mitch

Mitch I see your point to a degree.
I have worked in jobs where I have been paid $5 an hour. Sometimes it is not about the money. I have done it for experience and something to do other than sitting on my bumb and doing nothing

yes i see your point but we of gen y are taught from an early age the value of a dollar. So is it any wonder that people such as my self scoff at the notion of getting only $12.
