ASSESSMENT TASK - Pornography and Sexual Content

Pornography and sexual content is almost inescapable on the internet these days. Despite the countless filters that can be bought, downloaded and implanted into computer systems they always find a way to over come these or casually slip by.

Children of today are sadly facing a sexualised word; with casual sex, rape and the antics of drunken and idiotic celebrities plastered throughout magazines, TV, the news and radio. So what will happen to them now that it’s inescapable in both the real world and the digital realm that they love so dearly on the internet?

Well there are many possibilities! Amongst these the most frightening includes; children becoming sexually active at an even younger age that currently because it will become the norm. as mentioned on this site http://austrolabe.com/2006/10/16/the-sexualisation-of-children/ .

At the moment if you type the word “Porn” into google it lists 100000’s of pornographic websites! But what if a little kid just wants to know about the chess piece and just doesn't know it's spelt "pawn"? Innocent children are being ambushed. The government needs to do something about this.

I have no issue with grown men looking at porn, or even legal aged teenagers; it’s natural and their choice; however from the moment a child searches on the internet for something innocent in their eyes only to see something that is not even close to what their intended search was about; that free choice is gone…they have seen something that disturbs their young mind and something that they will become curious about or just plain terrified.

If the government really wants to protect the children of today’s society from straying along a path that they shouldn’t even know of until their later years of puberty then a advanced program needs to be developed before its too late.
