I agree that Australia pays an excessive amount of time, money and attention on sport and the olympics, though as a nation we should have a sense of pride and patronism for the people who are representing our country. Australia has long been known for it's sporting lifestyle and love of sport but is the price we are paying our olympians just a tad extreme? I think so.
Excerise can be seen as a leisure activity and something that people do to escape their everyday job/occupations. I wonder if the politicans and the people who are shaping Australia's future are being paid as much as our sport stars.... I doubt it. Perhaps we need to re-establish our budget when it comes to price tags and our priorities.
Jobs that have a direct impact on the future of Australia such as school teachers, environmental sciantists and welfare offices are being paid well below that of an olympian. Now does that make any sense???
Sounds pretty ludicris to me.
