Many young people are in sympathy with your view. I express mixed emotions to this problem because I’m so much older.
Yet never underestimate young people. The young have a completely different set of values and expectations, and some parents’ values seem old-fashioned.
We need to take a different approach to this problem. But firstly which position would you rather have? After a few years you’ll in your parents’ position too! So it is a good time to think about that. Parents and the young should be fair with each other and try not to have “double-standards”.
What sort of person do you think you are? Everyone should be responsible for their actions and treat others in the same way as they have been treated ----this is a “take” and “give” problem. If you want someone to respect you then you need to show respect to them.
You need to busy yourself in life---Doing a job well requires skill and eye for detail; build your ability in order to do something well. “Rome wasn’t built in a day” so keep learning (this includes parents!) to build a better life.
