Millions on what?

Australia does dispense millions in sporting advancements and improvements in its processes. It spends majority of its funds on insignificant research and development to increase our chance in the Olympics.

By suggesting that more money should be spend for the next time round sounds ludicrous to me.
Australia in itself has many other problems and economic issues that should be brought to our attention: health systems, disabilities environmental issues, global warming lack of education and work opportunities. These issues are more important that us, as Australians should focus on.

I agree that Australia pays an immoderate amount of funds, time and thought on sports and on the Olympics.
I’m not saying that we all should give up and ignore the Olympics. That would be stupid. I’m suggesting that the funds should be moderated and put into other places where we need fixing. Having a sense of pride and believing in our country shows a great deal of patriotism and helps acknowledge our efforts in sports in the world. So to the people who are representing our country good on you, but to the people who are deciding to fund millions and more to increase our chances of winning, shame on you! The Olympics should be about the world coming together to show there achievements not to find out the more dominant and superior countries.
