Barbie. A Toxic Culture.
We all have a responsibility to give our children a proper perspective of life. How can Mattel justify making "Barbie", with the dimensions she has. The fashion industry is targetted regulary for its portrayal of women, its waif like models that are unrealistic, and that give women a bad self image. Yet we allow young girls to play with something that cannot possibly be giving them good self image. Where is Mattels social conscience? There is but a few women that actually have natural figures like these, and the rest, have poor self esteem because they don't.
What is wrong with making "Barbie" more realistic? Could she have a larger waist, a smaller bust? Why not make her short? And what is wrong with dark hair?
