I believe the barbie doll should not be banned. If you ban the doll because of it's image, than all G I Joe's action figures will have to banned as well.
The question is do young girls see the Barbie doll as a roll model or just a toy?
The doll it's self is not entirely the problem, we have all seen the models on the run way. Supposedly the perfect image of what a women should be, but tell me that they are good roll models for young girls. It is teaching them to starve themselves to be the thinnest, and apparently the hottest thing since sliced bread.
The Barbie doll is a toy, the minds of young children are not. Our society we live in needs to step back and look at itself. Is the image we portray the best for children?
Not even close.
